3 Farmer Spotlights for World Food Day

    Each year, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) designates World Food Day on October 16th to bring awareness to the transformations in food systems, agriculture, and nutrition. On Tuesday, we also celebrated National Farmers Day. What better time of year than harvest to champion the farmers who keep us fed, clothed, and fueled.

     

    To honor this year’s theme of "Food Heroes," we’re spotlighting farmers who are innovating to feed our planet. Read their stories below and brush up on your knowledge of carbon farming

    1. Meet Mike Bretz

      Mike returned to farming after a stint in corporate sustainability where he focused on reducing the carbon footprint of supply chains. Bringing a fresh perspective to his family’s farm in Iowa, he began implementing regenerative practices to build soil health. Hear more from Mike.

    2. Meet P.J. Haynie

      P.J. is a fifth-generation farmer utilizing soil health practices to benefit the next generation. P.J. also chairs the National Black Growers council championing equity for black farmers. Read P.J.'s story.
