Gabe draws on a deep background in technology and derivative trading to drive Indigo’s hedging strategy and ensure effective commodity risk management.
Gabe comes to Indigo from Cargill Risk Management (CRM), where he most recently served as both Managing Director of Trading Technology and Senior Manager of Operations. In charge of CRM’s embedded technology team, Gabe spearheaded software development, implemented innovative practices, and oversaw regulatory and control functions. Prior to holding these positions, he spent over 12 years as a Trading Manager, Product Manager, and Sales Trader for the company’s Producer Product Line, an international unit committed to helping farmers and ranchers devise strong portfolio and risk management strategies. His responsibilities ranged from hedging agricultural commodities and developing software platforms to acting as an award-winning instructor at Cargill’s Option School and Behavioral Economics Sessions.
Before his career at Cargill, Gabe was a Senior Broker covering the NYMEX, COMEX, CBOT, and CME exchange floors—as well as all major electronic exchanges—and offering market commentary, IT support, and services to hedge funds and commodity trade advisors.
Gabe has an MBA and an MS in Finance from Boston College. He received a BA in Philosophy from Harvard University. He serves on the board of Osiris Organization, a nonprofit that provides computer lab infrastructure, scholarship support, and technology training to youth in the Twin Cities area.
“I've spent most of my career working with farmers and ranchers around the world through services that help them manage price risk, as well educating people across agriculture on the difficulties we all share in making pricing decisions. I'm excited to join Indigo, where there's strong passion for raising growers up as partners. Through Indigo's crop offers, we'll be able to couple innovative yield solutions with more consistent prices.”
