Senior Accounting Manager

Indigo is seeking a highly skilled and strategic Senior Accounting Manager to lead core accounting operations, ensure financial accuracy, and support compliance, internal controls, automation, and reporting initiatives. This role will be instrumental in driving process improvements, managing audits, and supporting Indigo’s growth through sound financial stewardship.  

Reporting directly to the VP, Controller, the ideal candidate is a CPA with deep expertise in accounting and financial reporting, and preferably a background in agriculture, carbon markets, or sustainability-linked businesses. This position can be based anywhere in the continental United States. 

What You'll Do

  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including preparation of financial statements in accordance with US GAAP and Corporate policies. 

  • Support revenue recognition processes by ensuring appropriate documentation, contract reviews, and timely entries for the Sustainability and Biologicals business units. 

  • Lead and mentor a team of accountants and analysts, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. 

  • Partner with international-entity teams to support all intercompany accounting requirements. 

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, SOX requirements, and evolving regulatory standards. 

  • Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, HR, Legal, Treasury, and IT to support financial operations and strategic initiatives. 

  • Manage external audits and coordinate with auditors to ensure timely and accurate reporting, including robust workpaper documentation. 

  • Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency. 

  • Provide financial analysis and insights to support executive decision-making. 

  • Monitor and improve accounting systems and tools, including ERP platforms. 

  • Prepare and review reconciliations for key general ledger accounts. 

  • Develop and post standard and non-standard journal entries. 

  • Analyze and interpret monthly balance sheet and income statement variances. 

  • Oversee all equity stock-based compensation accounting and collaborate with HR and Legal on equity administration and reporting. 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s or MBA preferred).

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required. 

  • 8+ years of accounting experience, including roles in high-growth, global organizations and 3+ years in a managerial role. 

  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls 

  • Experience in agriculture, agribusiness, carbon markets, or sustainability programs highly preferred. 

  • Experience in ERP environments, especially Oracle Cloud ERP or NetSuite. 

  • Familiarity with AI-based finance and accounting tools (e.g., BlackLine, AppZen, Vic.ai, Trullion, or custom LLMs for finance workflows). 

  • Strong technical writing skills for accounting memos and board-level presentation  

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills. 

How We'll Take Care of You

  • Base salary of $145,000 - $160,000 annually

  • Equity options & annual cash incentives

Pay Transparency Statement

Indigo is committed to competitive and equitable pay for all employees. The listed pay range for this role is a good faith estimate of the hiring range for this position. Compensation offered will be determined based on several factors including an individual’s experience, qualifications, and geographic location.

Benefits Statement

All regular, full-time, permanent employees who work 30 hours or more each week are eligible to enroll in Indigo’s benefits. Additionally, all full-time employees and some parttime employees are eligible for paid time off as outlined above. Based on their role, employees may also be eligible to receive long-term equity incentives and annual cash incentives.
