About This Role

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Director of Marketing will serve as a connector and catalyst across Indigo’s two core business units — Sustainability and Biologicals — while also supporting external corporate communications and brand presence. 

This role is for a hands-on, scrappy, resourceful marketing leader who can help business unit leaders shape their marketing strategies, connect the dots across teams, and then roll up their sleeves to make it happen. Working closely with our subject matter experts and commercial leads, you’ll create compelling campaigns, manage cost-effective vendor relationships, measure ROI, and ensure that marketing efforts drive revenue generation. 

The ideal candidate will have experience in sustainable agriculture and/or a strong understanding of the voluntary carbon market, enabling them to speak credibly with our stakeholders and translate technical concepts into engaging stories. 

This position can be based anywhere in the continental United States. 

What You'll Do

Focus on High-Impact Priorities

  • Identify, prioritize, and execute the marketing activities that will most directly boost engagement, generate leads and close sales.

  • Allocate resources toward initiatives with the highest measurable ROI. 

Collaborative Strategy Development 

  • Partner with Sustainability and Biologicals leaders to co-develop marketing strategies that align with critical market messages and business goals. 

  • Support product launch planning and execution across business units, ensuring integrated campaigns and go-to-market strategies. 

  • Identify opportunities for cross-pollination of content, campaigns, and market insights.

Demand-Generating Execution & Delivery 

  • Lead social media strategy and execution — including campaign planning, content creation, community engagement, and analytics — to grow audience reach and engagement across platforms. 

  • Develop a compelling and consistent brand voice and messaging across all social channels, ensuring alignment with business unit and corporate priorities. 

  • Ensure the voice of the customer is embedded in all campaigns by leveraging customer feedback, testimonials, and case studies to inform messaging and creative. 

  • Write and edit press releases, media pitches, thought leadership, and customer stories. 

  • Produce engaging digital and print content for customers, partners, and the media. 

  • Support marketing-led events with planning, promotion, and on-the-ground execution.

Smart Outsourcing & Vendor Management 

  • Engage cost-effective marketing partners (including offshore teams and contractors) to scale execution while maintaining speed and quality. 

  • Manage vendor relationships to ensure efficient delivery and budget control.

Cross-Functional Connection 

  • Work with Biological and Sustainability teams to ensure messaging consistency and translate deep science into digestible narratives. 

  • Act as a bridge between corporate brand needs and business unit marketing priorities. 


What You'll Bring

  • 8+ years in marketing, with proven experience in both strategic guidance and hands-on execution. 

  • Strong knowledge of sustainable agriculture and/or the voluntary carbon market. 

  • Proven track record of successfully launching products, from go-to-market strategy through execution and post-launch optimization. 

  • Deep expertise in developing and scaling content strategies that drive brand awareness, engagement, and lead generation 

  • Proven ability to balance strategy with hands-on execution. 

  • Exceptional writing and communication skills, with a knack for making complex topics accessible. 

  • Experience managing lean teams and/or offshore marketing partners. 

  • Analytical mindset with a track record of measuring and improving ROI. 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Agriculture or related field; advanced degree a plus. 


How We'll Take Care of You

  • Base salary of $175,000 - $200,000 annually

  • Equity options & annual cash incentives

Pay Transparency Statement

Indigo is committed to competitive and equitable pay for all employees. The listed pay range for this role is a good faith estimate of the hiring range for this position. Compensation offered will be determined based on several factors including an individual’s experience, qualifications, and geographic location.

Benefits Statement

All regular, full-time, permanent employees who work 30 hours or more each week are eligible to enroll in Indigo’s benefits. Additionally, all full-time employees and some parttime employees are eligible for paid time off as outlined above. Based on their role, employees may also be eligible to receive long-term equity incentives and annual cash incentives.
