About This Role

Indigo is seeking a mission-driven and strategic finance leader to serve as Vice President, Controller. This critical role will lead the company’s global accounting function, overseeing all aspects of financial reporting, compliance, internal controls, and technical accounting. As a key business partner across functions—including FP&A, operations, sales, product, and technology—the Controller will ensure financial accuracy, compliance, and insight to drive strategic decision-making and support Indigo’s continued growth.

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the ideal candidate is a CPA with deep expertise in US GAAP, proven leadership experience, and a background in agriculture, carbon markets, or sustainability-linked businesses. Familiarity with AI-powered finance tools, Oracle ERP systems, and multi-entity global structures is highly desirable. This position can be based anywhere in the continental United States.

What You'll Do

  • Lead global accounting operations, including general ledger, consolidations, revenue recognition, and close cycles.

  • Own preparation of timely and accurate US GAAP-compliant consolidated financial statements.

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, audit readiness, and evolving SOX frameworks.

  • Champion the use of AI tools in accounting workflows (e.g., automated reconciliation, fraud detection, expense categorization, journal entry suggestions, anomaly tracking).

  • Partner with cross-functional leaders in Sustainability, Commercial, and Biologicals to ensure proper revenue and cost recognition for carbon credits, ag inputs, and climate-aligned contracts.

  • Maintain and optimize Oracle ERP, integrating with other data platforms (e.g., CRM, carbon registries, billing systems).

  • Manage external audit relationships and statutory filings globally.

  • Support the CFO on technical memos, board reporting, audit committee materials, and M&A structuring as needed.

  • Build and lead a high-performing accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and tech adoption.

What You'll Bring

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required.

  • 15+ years of accounting and controllership experience, including leadership roles in high-growth, global organizations.

  • Expertise in multi-entity international consolidation, US GAAP, and accounting for carbon-related or sustainability-linked revenues.

  • Deep experience in agriculture, agribusiness, carbon markets, or sustainability programs highly preferred.

  • Hands-on leadership in ERP environments, especially Oracle Cloud ERP or NetSuite.

  • Familiarity with AI-based finance and accounting tools (e.g., BlackLine, AppZen, Vic.ai, Trullion, or custom LLMs for finance workflows).

  • Strong technical writing skills for accounting memos and board-level documentation.

  • Experience preparing for or operating in IPO, PE-backed, or public company settings, preferred.

How We'll Take Care of You

  • Base salary of $250,000 - $270,000 annually

  • Equity options & annual cash incentives

Pay Transparency Statement

Indigo is committed to competitive and equitable pay for all employees. The listed pay range for this role is a good faith estimate of the hiring range for this position. Compensation offered will be determined based on several factors including an individual’s experience, qualifications, and geographic location.

Benefits Statement

All regular, full-time, permanent employees who work 30 hours or more each week are eligible to enroll in Indigo’s benefits. Additionally, all full-time employees and some parttime employees are eligible for paid time off as outlined above. Based on their role, employees may also be eligible to receive long-term equity incentives and annual cash incentives.
