Dallas, TX (July 20, 2023) - AgencyRoot, the industry-leading software platform for crop insurance agencies, has announced a collaboration with Indigo Ag to increase the number of farmers taking advantage of new revenue opportunities from their sustainable farming practices. Through this collaboration, crop insurance agents on the AgencyRoot platform can help their farmer customers enroll in the Carbon by Indigo program and generate high quality carbon credits using many of the same farm documents needed for crop insurance.

“We are thrilled to work with AgencyRoot and their network of crop insurance agents to help their farmer customers make more money from sustainable practices,” said Dan Mongeau, senior director of strategic partnerships at Indigo Ag. “Indigo is currently the only company that’s produced two crops of high quality, registry-issued soil carbon credits at scale, and we look forward to welcoming new farmers to our program.”

Indigo Ag, the premier sustainability partner of the agriculture industry, launched its Carbon by Indigo program in 2018 and quickly became the leading agricultural program on the market with over 5.5M acres and 2,000 farmers currently enrolled across 30 states. In Indigo’s program, farmers can choose the practices that best fit their operation as well as the number of acres they want to enroll. Farmers receive at least 75% of the carbon credit sale proceeds, based on current carbon crop’s market value, no matter how high the price goes. To date, Indigo has paid almost $5 million to farmers over the first two carbon crops.

“We chose to work with Carbon by Indigo because they are leader in the space, are focused on the success of farmers, and their carbon program offers the best value for farmers,” said Denise Webb from AgencyRoot. “Crop insurance agents on the AgencyRoot platform have detailed knowledge of their customers’ farm operations and can use their innovative suite of tools to easily add Carbon by Indigo as a valuable offering to their customers.”
