In the Spotlight

Eda Reinot

I’ve spent over 20 years in the agriculture technology industry. During that time, I’ve worked with intelligent and driven colleagues at companies like BASF and Becker Underwood, developing technologies that have had a tremendous positive impact. But I was drawn to a rare opportunity at Indigo, one that motivates me each and every day — a mission to harness nature to help farmers sustainably feed the world. Our mission combines purpose with practicality, and provides us with an opportunity to conduct great science that has the potential to transform how farming is being done.

As the planet’s population continues on a course to surpass more than 9 billion by 2050, it is imperative for Indigo and all others in the ag industry to help farmers grow safe and nutritious foods. To do this, we need to work hand-in-hand with government agencies. As Indigo’s Head of Regulatory, I lead our work with government agencies to commercialize our products in various countries and regions, making sure our solutions are screened for safety.

Indigo is on the frontlines of a rapidly changing market — our microbial products are new to both our customers, as well as the ag space overall. We have an opportunity to work together with government agencies and industry groups to develop processes and guidelines that are reflective of naturally-derived products.

In addition to our mission, I’m inspired by the passion and vibrancy of the colleagues I have the fortune to work with every day, the science and technology behind what we’re setting out to accomplish, and the way in which we have prioritized partnering with growers from day one. Above all, our partnerships — with growers, the scientific and ag communities, regulators — are critical components to our success as we develop and execute on our vision.

On a personal level, I’m passionate about the larger implications stemming from the decisions that we as individuals make on a daily basis. I live and consume mindfully. At home, I utilize both solar power as an alternative energy source, as well as a sophisticated rainwater collection system, which I use to irrigate my garden. I encourage others to do their part as well. While our contributions are small on an individual level, our collective efforts can create a powerful impact.

Our world is at a critical inflection point, as we face many arduous challenges associated with population growth. We at Indigo have the opportunity to influence and shape the future of food, of farming and agriculture, and of the health of our planet. I couldn’t be more thrilled to be a part of this team.
